More Bang for Your Buck at Work

Getting ahead means using your brain to its highest capacity, and the truth is that many of us are working ahead without realizing what we can really do! For example, if you want to get work done more rapidly, consider breaking one task up into a dozen smaller tasks. Suddenly, the job no longer looks so intense.

Get some exercise while you work. After the first twenty minutes, our brains calm down and we get far less efficient. Work for twenty minute stretches and then stand up, do some jumping jacks, or simply walk around for a bit. It can make a big difference.

Finally, consider segregating your communication. Set aside about thirty minutes a day to catch up on your messaging, email and networking. After that, log off and stay off. Even if this drives you a little crazy at the beginning, it can serve you very well as time goes on.
